In Loving Memory of Andrea Butje

On August 2, 2025, the world lost one of the kindest souls I have had the privilege to get to know.

It is with deepest gratitude (and many tears) that I honour the life and legacy of Andrea Butje — master aromatherapist, radiant teacher, and kindred spirit.

Andrea is the Founder of Aromahead Institute where I received my Aromatherapist Certificiation.   I first was introduced to Andrea in 2014 when I was hunting for a scientific outlook regarding the usage of essential oils.  At the time, I was cynical and very confused.   As Andrea was the Lead Instructor at Aromahead until approximately 2022, it was through her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering belief in the power of essential oils and people that I rediscovered my passion for essential oils and found my calling.  She became a mentor and a friend, and played a significant role in my starting to heal.

Her guidance still lights the path I now walk, and her voice, so full of passion and joy, still echoes in my work and my heart.

Andrea’s passion for plants, flowers, essential oils, and people fuelled her to build relationships with the farmers and distillers, who grew the plants from seeds and the distillers who prepared quality essential oils.  Andrea reminded us all that healing begins with intention and presence, and that scent can be a sacred bridge between body, soul, and spirit.
