Trust me.  I have seen this nonsense before.

At the risk of repeating myself, every January, without fail, the world loses its collective mind.

Suddenly everyone is “starting fresh,” “becoming their best self,” and swearing blood oaths to planners that they will abandon by Candlemas. Nobody feels good enough.  Facebook feeds are full of “For my older big girls over 220 pounds” (which, by the way, I am NOT).  Gyms are full. Spirits are brittle. People are apologising for resting.

Let me save you some time, dear one:

January is not for reinvention.
January is for shedding.

Right now — from January 6 through mid-February — we are limping, shedding, and slithering through the very last tail-end of the Year of the Snake. And snakes, bless them, do not rush, justify, or set goals in pastel notebooks.

They molt when it’s time.
They leave the old skin where it lies.
They do not go back for it.

The Snake Knows What Doesn’t Fit

This is not the season for resolutions.
This is the season for irritation.

That low-grade itch in your life? That’s the snake skin splitting.

Old habits that feel ridiculous now.
Commitments that drain you dry.
Roles you keep playing out of politeness, fear, or muscle memory.

Snakes do not negotiate with what no longer fits.
They do not attend “closure meetings.”
They shed. Period.

2025 Was a 9 Year — Endings, Whether You Liked It or Not

Numerology backs me up here. 2025 was a 9 year, the end of the cycle. The broom-through-the-house number. The “we’re done pretending this works” number.

If last year stripped things away — relationships, illusions, energy, patience — that wasn’t punishment. That was completion.

Nine years don’t ask permission.
They clear the deck.
They take the long way out.

And January 2026 is still finishing that job.

January Is a Threshold, Not a Starting Gun

January is the hallway between lives.

This is where you:
– stop explaining yourself
– stop rescuing what refuses to change
– stop dragging obligations past their expiry date

If you feel slow, resistant, or deeply unimpressed with “New Year, New You” rhetoric, congratulations. Your instincts are intact.

You are not behind.
You are between.

February 17, 2026: Enter the Fire Horse 🔥🐎

Then — and only then — does the fire arrive.

On February 17, 2026, we ride into the Year of the Fire Horse, and that is a very different beast. The Fire Horse is bold, fast, decisive, and allergic to nonsense.

It does not creep.
It does not ask nicely.
It moves because standing still becomes unbearable.

And numerologically? 2026 is a 1 year — the beginning of a brand-new cycle.

After a 9 year of endings, a 1 year isn’t about hustling.
It’s about direction.

Not “How do I fix myself?”
But “What finally gets to begin now that I’m not carrying dead weight?”

So What’s the Assignment Right Now?

Simple. Not easy. Never easy.

Right now, you are meant to:
– notice what feels tight
– release what feels stale
– stop forcing transformation
– let clarity arrive when it’s ready

January doesn’t want your ambition.
It wants your honesty.

The Fire Horse is already stamping its feet, waiting for open ground. You’ll want to meet it lighter, clearer, and unburdened by things you should have shed years ago.

For now, let the Snake finish its work.

The skin is already splitting.
Stop trying to crawl back into it.

— Yes.  I have seen this cycle repeat (and even repeated it in my own life) more times than I have candles, crystals, and essential oils combined (!) and am learning to trust the timing anyway.
