Somewhere along the line, effort became confused with virtue. Push harder. Try more. Override your body. Surely that’s devotion. Except it isn’t. It’s fear pretending to be discipline.
I am writing this at a time when I knew I needed a break back in November — about a month before the Yuletide season. I come from many generations of pushers on both sides of the family. Strong people. Hard-working people. Admirable people.

True progress often looks suspiciously like restraint. It asks you to stop muscling outcomes and instead notice what actually responds to steady, patient attention. Pushing is loud. Progress is quiet and rarely Instagrammable.

Ritual

Sit still for five minutes and identify one thing you’ve been forcing. Don’t fix it. Just notice.

Essential Oils (Diffuser)

  • Lavender – 3 drops

  • Cedarwood – 2 drops

Footnotes:
Exhaustion does not mean you’re close to a breakthrough.
Rest sharpens discernment.
