For the last several weeks, have you felt the build up of energies, tensions, pressure internal and external?   It’s hard not to watch the news and see this in action.   But I also feel it within my own life.  Change in incoming finances, for the lesser, wa-a-a-ay below freezing temperatures, less sunlight, etc.   In a few weeks, our Chinese friends will be celebrating their new year, and welcoming the year of the horse … and not just any horse.  This is the year of the Fire Horse, and with all these changes, it feels as if he is stomping and snorting in his stall, threatening to break down the walls, long before February 17.

The Fire Horse doesn’t just tiptoe in, and politely asks how your nervous system is doing. It arrives like a truth you’ve been dodging — cheerful, relentless, and entirely uninterested in your excuses. If you’ve been telling yourself “this is fine” while quietly waiting for “this” to end, congratulations!  This year will notice.

Fire Horse energy is not about chaos for fun. It’s about independence with consequences. The sort of freedom that comes with accountability, not rebellion cosplay. This is the year that gently removes the blindfold and says, “So.  Are we done pretending now?”

A friend told me recently, “You are ready.  Stop saying you aren’t.  Grab the mane and jump onboard, it’s going to be a wild and glorious ride.  It’s going to happen whether or not you want it to.”  She shrugged.  “Isn’t it better to go willingly?”  I have always been up for adventure and willing to meet challenges and rewards head on.

Ritual

Light your candle.

Write three non-negotiable things that you want to let go of with the year of the Snake (2025), and shake the last remainder of the skin off.

Write three non-negotiable things that you want to bring with you with your adventure with the Fire Horse. (i.e. Self-care and being kind to your nervous system.)

Essential Oils for the Diffuser

2 drops Frankincense (Boswellia Carterii)
2 drops Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)

Why They Work

Frankincense
Frankincense slows the breath and steadies the mind. Neurologically, it supports parasympathetic activation — the “I am safe enough to think clearly” state. Energetically, it’s associated with sovereignty and discernment. It doesn’t hype you up; it centres you so you can make decisions without panic.

Rosemary
Rosemary stimulates mental clarity and focus. It increases alertness and is often used when confidence has gone soft around the edges. In this post, it reinforces ethical action — moving forward with awareness, not impulse.

Why they work together:
Frankincense grounds authority. Rosemary sharpens it. One keeps you from spiralling, the other keeps you from dithering.
